They are people just like the rest of us, who would not be working for Nickos if not to standard. As long as you get what you pay for and you do, that is all that matters. For me it's a real shame for sure and La Margherita's will be sadly missed. I have been going there for 12 years and have many incredible memories. Being able to dance until 3am to Latin & a mixture of music, having my birthday celebrations and romantic meals for two. The staff are super lovely, some have worked there since the beginning.

Amazing music, amazing atmosphere and the food is divine! Like all bars and restaurants, of course you are always going to get drunken idiots that give the wrong message to new comers. Overall it's the only bar I prefer to go to for a good place to dance, and eat...a night out is what you make it too! I hope Nickos and the guys can turn this around. I love the Latin feel on the Marina.

When I want to book a table they always gave me the best, free champs because it's your birthday or special occasion. This year, Valentines day was amazing. The food and Service as always 5*.

My worry is with the new strip club coming soon next door, god knows what other business La Margherita's vacancy may attract!

The only place for me to go....and now it will be gone :-(. Very Sad!

Therefore, liquidate the old company and screw the suppliers.

Set up a new company, who buys the old company's assets for a nominal fee (£1) and they can start trading.

Iron Lady...are you able to speak 4 languages other then English? Write and understand? At least 'my way is' is making an effort. You are being very rude when there is no need to be. I remember countless times when La Margherita's held huge Charity events to raise money. Since Franco died the family have obviously tried their best to expand their businesses in a very tough financial climate. In life you have to take risks. The staff, who are people by the way, all probably work harder then you ever have in your life. Some of the staff work day and night!

This is about a business which has been around for many years that is struggling...have you ever been through something like this yourself?

As my Grandparents always say 'don't say anything at all, if you can't say anything nice'!

I'm all for a drink and enjoying yourself but this place conjures up a special sub-class of loose women & equally brainless letches pursuing them and looking at the venue on a weekend, the way the customers are treated and place managed, it is abundantly clear.

It's always pretty busy so for this to happen may be either gross incompetency or convenient accounting. Who knows. Town Quay still charge a lot of rent under the presumption it is some salubrious, Monaco esque principality! Bizarre mindset!

One thing is for sure though, this place never had class and won't be missed by anyone with taste (more referring to the overall venue rather than restaurant as it is a club really).

Hey old-timer. Southampton, gone to the dogs you say?

Not quite sure why you think that. Personally I'd say it's doing pretty well for itself. Some great acts are coming our way as the city's Civic Centre entertainment venue continues to attract ever-growing crowds from far and wide. The new Sea City museum isn't half bad and neither's the shopping experience. Overall I'd say it's better than ever - I've lived here 30 years.

Of course, certain parts have seen better days but that's called 'a sign of the times'.

On another note, you call Margs a place that 'never had class and won't be missed', yet your previous comment suggests that you got thrown out - which says a lot about you really doesn't it.

The venue itself has seen better days however, and I still think there's a load of good opportunities to make Town Quay into a premiere destination.

I have been to all those cities you mention on a night out. I agree, I have had amazing times out too, but just as I have always done so at La Margherita's. I will always still enjoy the best nights out at La Margs. They play best music, and are in the best location. The night out is what you make of it. It also depends on the company you keep. Every club and bar offer different styles. If this is not for you, then thats your preference, not of everyone! As I mentioned previously, we are always going find some types of people that do not appeal to us. This is the same for all bars and restaurants. The only place in town that will stay open until 3am. No bar in Portsmouth has the license to do the same!

Why are you comparing us to other cities? Southampton can't change. It is what it is. Like anything else in life, we have to make the most of what we have.

If you have had enough of Southampton night life then just keep going to the other places you enjoy, don't mock a place that myself and I know many others enjoy going to. it's packed there most of the time...does that not tell you anything?

I will always still enjoy the best nights out at La Margs. They play best music, and are in the best location. The night out is what you make of it. It also depends on the company you keep. Every club and bar offer different styles. If this is not for you, then thats your preference, not of everyone! As I mentioned previously, we are always going find some types of people that do not appeal to us. This is the same for all bars and restaurants. The only place in town that will stay open until 3am. No bar in Portsmouth has the license to do the same!

Why are you comparing us to other cities? Southampton can't change. It is what it is. Like anything else in life, we have to make the most of what we have.

Some great acts are coming our way as the city's Civic Centre entertainment venue continues to attract ever-growing crowds from far and wide. The new Sea City museum isn't half bad and neither's the shopping experience. Overall I'd say it's better than ever - I've lived here 30 years.

Of course, certain parts have seen better days but that's called 'a sign of the times'.

On another note, you call Margs a place that 'never had class and won't be missed', yet your previous comment suggests that you got thrown out - which says a lot about you really doesn't it.

The venue itself has seen better days however, and I still think there's a load of good opportunities to make Town Quay into a premiere destination.

Please, go to London or Bristol or Brighton for a night out, then tell us that 'Southampton is doing pretty well for itself'...

PS The Yates on above bar is always packed. Doesn't mean anyone with sense would want to go in there!!

Just for the record, only the police are allowed to access cctv, so it was nothing personal to you. Also if there were a group of women doing the rounds they were probably going from venue to venue. For me it's a real shame for sure and La Margherita's will be sadly missed. I have been going there for 12 years and have many incredible memories. Being able to dance until 3am to Latin & a mixture of music, having my birthday celebrations and romantic meals for two. The staff are super lovely, some have worked there since the beginning.

Amazing music, amazing atmosphere and the food is divine! Like all bars and restaurants, of course you are always going to get drunken idiots that give the wrong message to new comers. Overall it's the only bar I prefer to go to for a good place to dance, and eat...a night out is what you make it too! I hope Nickos and the guys can turn this around. I love the Latin feel on the Marina.

When I want to book a table they always gave me the best, free champs because it's your birthday or special occasion. This year, Valentines day was amazing. The food and Service as always 5*.

My worry is with the new strip club coming soon next door, god knows what other business La Margherita's vacancy may attract!

The only place for me to go....and now it will be gone :-(. Very Sad!
