FOR the fifth year running, accountancy firm Haines Watts is sponsoring the Employer of the Year at the INSPIRE Business Awards.

David Smy, who is a partner at the firm based in Sarum Hill, Basingstoke, is looking forward to the gala evening, set to be held at Highfield Park, Heckfield, on November 13.

Although that date may seem a long way off, the closing date for nominations is August 15.

To enter the awards or to make a nomination is easy – just visit inspire businessawards.co.uk.

David said entering the awards may take a little effort, but they are certainly worth competing for.

“Awards are good for business,” he said. “They help to set businesses apart in what is a competitive market.

“As a local firm, we like to recognise the achievements of the local business community. The INSPIRE awards is an extremely exciting evening, and winning an INSPIRE award is something that is aspirational.”

Recruitment specialists Hays are, for the second year, sponsoring the Employee of the Year Award.

Business director Katy Walker said: “At Hays, we believe it is important to invest in the local business community and this is just one way that we can make a contribution to the north Hampshire region by encouraging and recognising talent within our local businesses.”

The award is one of 13 on offer, and was introduced for the first time last year.

It was won by a 19-year-old Vitacress Salads apprentice Tom Ford, who really shone for the judges.

Katy said: “Last year, the finalists were all thoroughly deserving and from the most diverse backgrounds you can imagine, so we are looking forward to some more interesting and exceptional entries this year.

“We are looking for applicants who have gone the extra mile for their employer over the last year, and made a real contribution to the business.

“This could relate to improved performance in any business area, a fantastic customer service record, achievements beyond expectations or consistent and outstanding dedication to the business.”
