IT was a firm student favourite, but now a Winchester bar has had a makeover.
This weekend saw the launch of The Bar in The Square, formally All Bar One, with wine, canapés and plenty of dancing.
Marc Gorman, head chef, said people enjoyed tucking into the home-made food before heading upstairs after 10pm to hit the dancefloor (pictured below).
“We could not have hoped for anything better,” he said.
“We had groups that had not booked coming in to celebrate birthdays, and I guess people attract people – we were full. It was a beautiful atmosphere.”
He also said the bar is hoping to get involved with the local community where possible, with sponsorship already in place for the University of Winchester’s women’s hockey team.
“We are becoming more community mindful,” he said.
“It was portrayed in the past in a dim light and we are very keen to put that to bed and show that we put something back in to the community. People couldn’t believe the transformation.”
On November 8 the bar will host a black-tie evening in aid of Help for Heroes. Admission is £5, and is donated in full to the charity. For more information call 07584838286.
