A Hampshire firm will be the talk of the small business world on Tuesday (November 24).

Hursley-based website builder Smart Little Web was one of 100 small firms across the country to be selected for special promotion in the 100 days running up to Small Business Saturday on December 5.

Each of the 100 is allocated a day when their business is given full exposure across all Small Business Saturday’s media channels and also receives a visit from the organisation’s tour bus.

Smart Little Web founders Chris John and Joel Calliste will be aboard the bus when it visits Winchester High Street on Tuesday when they will be speaking about being part of the Small Biz 100 at 11.15am.

“We were blown away when we found out we’d been selected’, said Joel.

“Giving smaller businesses the kind of exposure normally only possible for companies with big budgets is such a great idea. It fits so well with our own ethos of giving even the smallest of businesses a website that lets them compete on an even-footing with big companies’, he continued.

Smart Little Web is the product of over 30 years’ combined experience and more than one million lines of code. The platform is tailored to small businesses and aim to remove the headache of self-building a website.

Co-founder Chris commented, ‘We’re so proud to be representing Winchester in the Small Biz 100 list. We live and work here and our small but dedicated team is thrilled to have had such great recognition so early on in our journey.”

Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-political, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.

On December 5 an event will be held in The Boutique Village, Millbrook Southampton, a warehouse which hosts more than 180 small businesses.

There will be a number of seminars including a presentation from Dawn Baxendale, CEO of Southampton City Council about the future Southampton.

There will also be help and advice available from some of the business support agencies including Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), Solent Business Growth Network, Hampshire Chamber, Solent Growth Hub and Enterprise First network.

And the Daily Echo will be having a stand where you can find out how we can help your business.

If you have an idea about starting a business or you are just starting out or if you are an existing business there will plenty ideas for you to see and people to talk with as well as network with other small businesses” said David Vane, one of the organisers.

“Many people do not recognise the presence of small businesses but they feature in many areas of our daily lives and this is an opportunity to recognise their role and find out more about what they do.
