JUST three years after founding their telecoms company, two 20-something entrepreneurs are planning to open their first office in the USA.

Southampton-based Yo Telecom – started by Nathan Hanslip, 23, and Ryan O’Carroll, 22 – is to open a branch in Tampa, Florida, in the next few weeks.

Following on from Florida the ambitious pair plan to open offices in New York and Los Angeles.

The move across the Atlantic comes on the back of a 417 per cent growth in sales over the past year.

Yo’s simple philosophy is to provide and install a complete package of landline, mobile and broadband to businesses. The company wholesale accounts with the major phone providers and they pass on those rates to their customers.

It’s a no-hassle system for the customer – if there’s a fault they ring Yo, which offers a 24-hour customer support service, rather than the phone company.

The offer has proved particularly popular with businesses in the hospitality and health care sectors.

In addition to the phone and broadband systems, supplied by Siemens, Yo offers an added extra, developed by Ryan, called WiFi Data Capture.

A customer waiting in a business with a Yo system can log onto the WiFi and their phone or tablet will flash up a home page for that business with its logo and connections to the likes of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The system prompts the user to “like” the host business page and also gathers the customer’s information.

Nathan and Ryan believe their business model will transfer to the USA without the need for major changes.

Last November Yo was named Fastest Growing Re-seller of the Year by supplier Siemens Unify and the previous year it was Siemens’ New Re-seller of the Year.

In November the firm moved into new offices in Cumberland Place – at the time they had 40 staff – they now have 65 and expect that number to rise to 100 this year.

Apart from conquering America the duo – who both attended the Gregg School – also have plans to diversify into the energy market.

Ryan explained: “We hope to offer one big package – you will have one bill with your landline, broadband and energy on it. Lots of our existing customers have shown an interest in this.”
