A NEW weekly study in entrepreneurial thinking for pupils aged 10 to 18 is coming to Basingstoke and is promising to equip students with vital skills.

The Métier Academy Entrepreneurship course takes place over 12 Saturdays between Saturday, 3 February and Saturday, 28 April at the Beechdown Club in Winchester Road, catering for three age groups; 10 to 13 years, 14 to 16 years and 17 to 18 years.

The core focus of the academy is to cultivate skill-sets and thought processes in pupils to equip them for personal and commercial success.

The course covers topics that may not be covered in mainstream education but are seen to be crucial in helping students in environments that are becoming increasingly competitive.

The course will touch on how to identify personal strengths and how to utilise them to achieve goals.

Alongside this it will focus on negotiation, pitching and presentation skills which are described as being vital in various elements of life such as job interviews.

The importance of networking is taught so students understand better on how to build on these relationships to help them achieve.

Financial education is also taught so students can learn how to manage properly when they potentially move away to university and can maintain a good credit rating.

Anita Borishade, from the Métier Academy said: “The course is very invaluable, the things the students learn could be the difference between them getting a job over another candidate.

“It also teaches them to not feel that their options are limited because of where they live or their background.”

Registration is now open and early registration is recommended as places are limited. The course cost is £20 per hour and there are full bursaries available when parental income is below £22,000 and discounts are available for multiple siblings.

The course is suitable for any students that feels that they would benefit from what the course has to offer.

Anita added: “This course is vital in equipping the youth to become distinguished and pioneering in a generation that has become increasingly competitive for university places, job positions and business ventures.”
