200 jobs at risk at Army bacon factory

TWO hundred jobs are at risk at a Hampshire meat processing factory that supplies bacon to the Army after administrators were called in.

Administrators Baker Tilly have been appointed by DBC Foodservice after it failed to find a buyer to take on the struggling business.

Around 200 jobs are linked to its meat processing plant in Petersfield among 12 depots around the UK The Petersfield factory is the sole bacon supplier for the British Army under a contract with the Ministry of Defence.

The company, formerly called Danish Bacon Company, is headquartered at Welwyn Garden City.

Baker Tilly said all 982 employees at DBC have been informed of the news.

In statement Baker Tilly said: "DBC is a very well established business which has enjoyed a great reputation over a prolonged period. It is obviously very disappointing to see the company enter into administration.

"We are in discussions with a number of interested parties, some of which are at an advanced stage. We are hopeful that we will be able to secure a future for certain areas of the business.

I'm one of the 200, and there's nearly 1000 affected across the country. The comments don't bother me at all. What goes around comes around and nobody's future is safe these days.

It would seem some people are getting to much sun.
And to those that think its a joke i hope your jobs are safe (if you have one). I hope the company and all of the jobs can be saved.
