Insurance giant Zurich to axe 177 Hampshire jobs

Jobs axe falls Jobs axe falls

MORE than 175 Hampshire jobs are being cut by an insurance giant.

Zurich has announced it is making 163 workers based at its offices in Whiteley and a further 14 in Farnborough redundant as part of a shake-up that will see nearly 350 staff cut nationally.

The changes are part of a restructure that will see some operations outsourced to a series of brokers through Broker Direct, Endsleigh and the Wessex Group.

No, it's "report job losses" week. You think it's a coincidence that we've seen several stories like this at once? Journalists love to stir up outrage. Don't fall for it. People have always lost job, and they always will.

Zurich Whiteley - that's the third office shedding jobs this week where I've had an interview in the past year.

If you work at Rightmove, start looking for a job now...

This crazy coalition government are happy to admit that we are bumping along the bottom but are not prepared to do anything about it, everybody knew what would happen with their cut cut cut policy, the only way out of this mess is to invest in the future start building thousands of houses mostly for social housing as that is what is and will be needed. Money has to circulate but people need jobs before they can spend and create more jobs. Building houses creates jobs not just for builders but for all of the people that make everything from a toilet to a kitchen sink. This crazy idea that the private sector would pick up the slack is a miserable failure and its about time Cameron done one of his famous u turns and got this country moving.
