Jenny Hyland of the Savills South Coast Development team has attained the “gold standard” of professionalism in land, property and construction by qualifying as Chartered Planning and Development Surveyor with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Jenny (23) grew up locally on the Isle of Wight and attained a First Class Honours Degree in BSc Environmental Planning at Queens University, Belfast. Following this she joined the Savills South Coast Development Team, based in Southampton, on their Summer Placement Scheme and then progressed onto the Graduate Scheme, where she gained relevant experience in Planning and Development to become Chartered. Gaining Chartered status requires two years of professional experience and successful completion of the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).

“I would recommend anyone considering a professional career in land, property or construction take a degree accredited by the RICS, and I highly recommend the opportunities offered by Savills for work experience, Summer Placements and the Graduate Scheme for undertaking the APC,” says Jenny. “It is an exciting time to be involved with property. I am looking forward to providing quality planning and development consultancy advice to assist with the delivery of new development and regeneration on the South Coast, as a Chartered Planning and Development Surveyor.”

The Savills South Coast Development Team comprises twelve local Chartered Surveyors, and recruits new members each year on to the Savills Graduate Scheme, while also offering opportunities for work experience on the Summer Placements scheme. The dedicated team provides a comprehensive range of development services to meet the needs of a wide range of clients, advising both the Private and Public Sectors, Plc’s, Charities and Trusts. Their four key work streams are namely; Development Consultancy, Agency, Valuation and Recoveries.
