Savills Rural lends support to JET training programme

Professionals from Savills Food & Farming business have lent their support to a training programme for young agriculturalists from the southern counties

Run by the John Edgar Trust (JET), a Hampshire-based charity dedicated to helping people in southern England achieve their potential in farming and rural enterprises, this year’s training course offers a hands on approach to rural business management, leadership, taxation & law, people management and media management among other things.

Simon Blandford, of Savills Winchester, and Jon Dearsley, based in Cirencester, delivered seminars to the students during 2016 and have committed themselves to the programme once again in 2017.

Simon Blandford, who heads up Savills Food & Farming in the south, said: “As a charitable organisation, JET is committed to providing training for young agriculturalists in the region where it might otherwise fall short. The organisation relies on volunteers from the industry to offer an insight into current practices and real life case studies.  We are delighted to be lending our support in this way and it is a privilege to be passing on my own experience to others.”
