SERVING and retired police officers and staff are taking part in the Band of Hampshire Constabulary’s first-ever concert in Romsey Abbey at 7.30pm next Friday (June 20). Cash raised at the Midsummer Duty Calls Concert will be shared between the Countess Mountbatten Hospice and Naomi House Children’s Hospice, as well as the band.

Music will include classical pieces, marches, big band tunes and a selection from Les Misérables. Soprano, Amanda Goldthorpe-Hall, an established West End performer will be joining the band, which received £1,000 towards the cost of staging the show from John Lewis’s Music Matters scheme.

Reserved tickets – they cost £12, with unreserved tickets priced £10 and U18s, £5 – are available from Romsey Tourist Information office.
