Romsey Decorative and Fine Arts Society are delighted to welcome Peter Medhurst and his colleague, Philip Salmon, to the United Reformed Church on Thursday (July 10) for an evening entitled The Course of True Love.

Inspired by the famous quotation from Shakespeare’s that the “the course of true love never did run smooth”, Peter and Philip will present an evening of song and duets ranging from Dowland, Purcell and Mendelssohn through to Britten, Gurney and Flanders & Swan, dwelling on the unpredicable qualities of true love.

Peter Medhurst’s work as singer, pianist and lecturer-recitalist has taken him all over the world, and in the last few years he has toured Europe, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. He is director of The Classical Music Company that has formed Blue Thread Medhurst Productions which promotes special musical events, makes films about the arts, produces recordings and organises specialist music tours to unusual locations both at home and abroad.

Although Philip Salmon had no initial ambition to be a singer, it was perhaps inevitable, beginning his musical life as a boy chorister at St Paul’s Cathedral, London. Since then, Philip has performed with leading orchestras in major opera houses and theatres around the world and has sung with Jose Carreras and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa.

The show starts at 7.30 pm. Tickets are available from the Tourist Information Centre in Church Street, or on line from.romseyfestival.org and from romseyfestival. ticketsource.co.uk
