WINCHESTER University has appointed its first Artist in Residence to create new art for the campus.
Amy Goodman, a Hampshire-based sculptor and portrait artist, has been commissioned to produce art which reflects its values.
In her new role she will create sculptures and paintings, collaborating with students and staff to reflect themes including intellectual freedom, social justice and diversity.
Her eight-foot bronze sculpture The Angel is already on display at the university’s main building and an exhibition of her will be held at the university in 2016.
She said: “I will be in dialogue with staff and students, and I want to set up a forum where ideas can be exchanged.
“I wish to produce pieces over the next couple of years that evolve with collaboration and through democratic means.”
Ms Goodman studied fine art at Southampton Institute (now Southampton Solent University) and has had works exhibited throughout the UK, Europe and Kuwait.
