FOLLOWING the release of their new album British pop-rock duo Chas and Dave are set to take a Basingstoke theatre by storm.

The pair began writing and performing together in 1972, reaching the top 20 in 1979 with Gertcha which became a nationwide catchphrase.

The Sideboard Song soon followed, and in 1980 they hit the charts with Rabbit and later Ain’t No Pleasing You (1982).

They also wrote title songs for the cult classics Only Fools and Horses and Till Death Do Us Part.

Now they are celebrating their 50th anniversary by recording their first original album in 27 years, That’s What Happens, featuring special guests Jools Holland, Jerry Allison (Buddy Holly) and Hugh Laurie, and mixing vintage rock ‘n’ roll with new versions of their classics.

The performance kicks off at 7.45pm on Friday, September 26, at The Anvil in Basingstoke.

Tickets cost £27.50, or £25.50 for over-65s, under-16s and full time students.
