Management at Romsey’s community gallery, Rum’s Eg, have been delighted by the number and quality of entries for the fundraising art auction on May 1.

Works include a number of botanical paintings by Royal Horticultural Society Gold Medalist Siriol Sherlock as well equestrian scenes by Derek Snowden and aquatic images by Emily Stafford both notable Hampshire artists.

More than 50 contemporary and period paintings and sculptures will go under the hammer of auctioneer Clare Durham, head of ceramics and glass at Woolley and Wallis.

The commission and, in some cases, the full sale price will be donated to the Rum’s Eg Community Fund.

All works will be exhibited in the gallery from April 25 and sealed bids can be placed in advance of the auction.

Art owners can still submit lots by downloading the information sheet and entry form at hampshireartand craft.org or picking up the forms from the gallery.

Art lovers who would like to attend the auction can visit ventbrite.co.uk and register for their free ticket.
