Blissfields update

>WINCHESTER'S own Blissfields Festival has been picking up a lot of attention lately.

>It won Best Small Festival 2007 at the UK Festival awards, it is now in The Sunday Times top 10 festivals list for 2008 and it is in The Observer's top 20 best small festivals list.

>Now the organisers can announce the release of day tickets to coincide with the addition of new artists.

>The Mercury nominated Maps will join advancing new bands Noah and the Whale, Johnny Flynn and the Sussex Wit, as well as the winner of this years' yet titled Red Stripe Music Award.

>This makes Blissfields 2008, which runs from Friday 4 - Sunday 6 July at Matterley Bowl, near Winchester, truly the best year in its history.

>It is easily one of the most exciting small festivals in the country, offering the paramount balance of established names in music alongside the apex of emerging acts, playing to a crowd of 5,000 ticket holders.

>This year will also see a new addition to the Blissfields carnival; a mass birthday party.

>Join in on the biggest and most eccentric birthday party you'll ever have where anybody celebrating their day over the weekend will get the chance to request songs and receive an essential birthday party pack while bands sing 'happy birthday to you'.

>Even if it's not your birthday, the atmosphere will be so electric you'll feel as though it is.

>From its launch in 2001 at the fields of founders Paul and Mel Bliss, Blissfields has captured the imagination of its patrons, growing each year until its climactic win at the 2007 UK Festival Awards where it bagged Best Small Festival.

>However, Blissfields 8 has by no means lost its unique boutique and family friendly qualities.

>Headline acts for this year include The Wonderstuff on the Friday, The Whip on the Saturday, and Roni Size on the Sunday.

>Exciting local acts will include Six Nation State, Captain Phoenix, and Chris T-T.

>With the announcement of the daily bill, single day tickets are now available from www.blissfields.co.uk priced at just £30.00 / £35.00.
