Welsh choir group Cor Glanaethwy and dance group Entity Allstars have become the first acts to go through to the Britain’s Got Talent final this weekend.

Cor Glanaethwy automatically made the final after receiving the majority of the public vote.

The judges – Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams – had to pick one act from the other two acts in the top three, Entity Allstars and Henry Gallagher.

Alesha, Amanda and Simon all voted for Entity Allstars, with David giving Gallagher his vote.

Tonight kicked off the first live semi-finals for the show with a total of nine acts vying for a spot in the final.

Despite breaking a Guinness World Record on live TV, Mitch and Cally The Wonderdog ended up in fifth place.

They managed to set a new Guinness World Record for the most balloons popped by a dog. An official Guinness World Records adjudicator joined the pair on stage.

The current record was 44:49 seconds held by an American dog, but Cally succeeded in setting a new record of just under 42 seconds and got a standing ovation from the judges.

Singer Ricky Martin performed his new song, Mr Put-It-Down, on the second part of the show.

During the first part of the show, hosts Ant and Dec referenced the Second World War bomb that caused the evacuation of the Britain’s Got Talent studio earlier in the week, saying: “Nothing can stop Britain’s Got Talent going on air.”

Cowell joked saying: “Hitler tried to stop us and for the second time we defeated Hitler.”

The 110lb (50kg) bomb, dropped during Nazi air raids in the early 1940s, was unearthed by builders working near Wembley stadium in north London. The Ministry of Defence confirmed it was safely detonated.

Holden said she thought this year had been the “best year for talent since 2009″.

The show was opened by Essex dance group Entity Allstars, who were also Alesha’s Golden Buzzer act.

Alesha’s bondage style black dress garnered a lot of attention on social media, with some commenting it was slightly too risque for television.

The judges felt impressionist Andrew Fleming’s act was dated, and he ended up in eighth place.

Simon told him: “I really liked you the first time I saw you, you were very honest. I think, I have to say this, I don’t think we as a show did you any favours tonight – the whole presentation was wrong, it should have just been about you. But I don’t blame you, I blame us.”

Singer and entertainer Lorraine Bowen, who ended up in fourth place, revealed that she has a fan in American singer Snoop Dogg, who posted a video of himself watching her perform on the show.

Burlesque dance group, Ruby Red Performers, received the lowest amount of public votes, putting them in ninth position.

Every night this week contestants will bid for a place in the final, with the hopes of winning the £250,000 cash prize and the opportunity to appear at the Royal Variety Performance.
