The Craig Milverton Quartet will be paying their tribute to Oscar Peterson at the Concorde Club, Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh on Wednesday 28 May.

Craig Milverton has firmly established himself as one of Britain's best and most versatile jazz musicians.

In a professional career spanning more than 20 years he has worked with some of the world's greatest jazz musicians including Scott Hamilton, Stacey Kent, John and Jaqui Dankworth, Kenny Ball, Acker Bilk and George Melly. In this concert he will pay tribute to probably the greatest jazz pianist of all time, Oscar Peterson.

Oscar, who died last December at the age of 82, had a career that spanned over 60 years.

He played with some of the biggest names in jazz, including Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie and Dizzy Gillespie.

Peterson's impressive collection of awards include honours such as the Order of Canada, as well as a Lifetime Grammy (1997) and a spot in the International Jazz Hall of Fame.

The quartet will be performing many of his greatest tunes including tracks from his award winning albums 'Night Train', 'The Canadiana Suite' and his 1953 hit, 'Tenderly'.

Craig was described by the late great Humphrey Lyttelton as 'A master of whatever he chooses to perform.' Appearing with Craig are three of the most gifted musicians on the British jazz scene, bassist Luke Steele, Canadian guitarist Dominic Ashworth, winner of the Best Jazz Guitarist Award 2006, and the incomparable Bobby Worth will be joining the group on drums.

"We are delighted to welcome back Craig Milverton to the Concorde. He is an exceptional pianist. I am very much looking forward to hearing him play the music of Oscar Peterson," said Cole Mathieson, Managing Director of the Concorde Club, To book your tickets call 023 8061 3989 or visit www.theconcordeclub.com .
