A HAMPSHIRE venue is set to sparkle with a seasonal showcase.

The Winter Jewels exhibition will open at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, in Ampfield, on December 2 and will run throughout the month.

It will show off the work of 20 local members of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery - Wessex Group, who have organised the event following a similar event in May.

Romsey MP, Caroline Nokes, will be opening the free exhibition.

It will be manned by the jewellery makers, so visitors can learn about how the pieces were created or commission a unique piece of jewellery.

A variety of materials are used by the makers, including silver, gold, precious and semi-precious stones, as well as glass, wood and acrylic and there will be a wide range of styles and prices, from £30 to more than £500.

Several of the jewellers have won awards for their work.

The exhibition runs 10am to 5pm daily, but is closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
