POLICE are appealing for sightings of a motorbike following several burglaries in the area.

A black “sporty” motorbike has been spotted at or near houses that have been burgled in Ashurst, West End, North Baddesley and Ampfield.

Entry was forced and jewellery worth £3,000 was stolen in the burglary in Ampfield.

When the burglar alarm sounded, a witness saw the black motorbike on the drive of the house, in Winchester Road.

Items stolen in the incident, last Saturday (November 24), between 2pm and 2.30pm, include designer label anklets, cuff links, pendants, rings and wristwatches.

Eastleigh-based Detective Constable Stephen Ashe said: “We would like to speak to anyone who can assist in identifying the black motorbike that has been seen at this and other incidents in the wider Southampton area in the last few weeks.”

This follows a burglary at a home in Nutburn Road, North Baddesley, on November 17, in which burglars smashed their way in through a patio door using a heavy pot plant and took electrical items, cash and jewellery.

A witness reported seeing a black motorcycle leaving the scene and heading towards Rownhams Road. The male rider was around 6ft tall and wore a navy jacket, trousers and white trainers.

The pillion passenger appeared to be a thin woman, about 5ft tall, wearing coloured leggings, who had a backpack with reflective strips.

Another witness reported seeing a white Transit-type van in the drive of the house at about 3.30am that day. The vehicle had a lower rear panel with silver and green diagonal stripes and the driver left at speed when he realised he was being watched.

Anyone with information about the motorbike or the burglaries is asked to contact DC Ashe, at Eastleigh CID, on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
