FIRE crews helped a lorry driver to safety after his recycling truck overturned on an icy road at Braishfield in the early hours of Wednesday.
Romsey and Winchester-firefighters were involved in the rescue at Dores Lane.
A ladder was placed alongside the overturned Volvo, so the driver, who had managed to scramble out of his cab and stand on the top of his vehicle, could climb down to the road.
Fire crews also mopped up hydraulic fluid which had leaked on to the road.
The Veolia environmental services vehicle, damaged a roadside fence when it went over. Dores Lane was closed for several hours after the incident, at 4am, say the police.
