DO you remember Romsey’s jam factory?
King John’s House Museum plan to preserve people’s memories of the factory, which stood in The Hundred, on the site now occupied by Aldi, before it was destroyed by fire in July, 1964.
Sarah Hargreaves, from KJH, said: “We are holding a memory gathering event next Thursday (February 14), when there will be the opportunity to record memories for posterity.”

As part of the jam factory project, there will be craft session at the museum on Wednesday, February 20, between 10am and noon, when participants can make clay berry pots. There is £4.50 charge for the event, which is open to any age.
Town historian, Barbara Burbidge, will give a talk on Romsey Jam Factory at KJH on March 6 at 10.30am and an exhibition on the factory will run throughout March until the end of May.
King John’s House Museum is to open a month earlier this year, starting on March 4.
