The Mountbatten School Rock Challenge Team Showcased at Southampton Guildhall to a packed audience.
As the reigning Southern Premier Champions, the team had the honour of opening the show with a performance of Secret Soul inspired by The Diary of Anne Frank.
The eight-minute piece, featuring a cast of 120, began in modern day with a school party visiting an Anne Frank exhibition.
One of the girls is drawn into the diary and a sieries dream sequences then unfold.
Joint artistic director Samantha Hunt said: “We wanted to focus on Anne’s dreams for the future and her fascination with Hollywood glamour.”
Their performance earned seven Awards of Excellence in the following categories: choreography, soundtrack, set design, staging, lighting, drama skills and performance skills. One judge commented, ‘the performance was stylish and mature’.
Mountbatten also won the Performance Choice and Best Crew ( for backstage team) awards, which were voted for by the other performers.
Mountbatten will compete at the Southern Premier Finals in Portsmouth in June.
