Test Valley Borough Council will be seeking the public’s views on a variety of proposed parking and traffic measures in Romsey.

The proposals, which go on show from next Monday (January 13) cover both on- and off- street parking and lorry management measures.

Portfolio holder for planning and transport, Councillor Martin Hatley, said: “The changes suggested are in response to public comments received by the council, and support the council’s commitment to help shoppers, traders and residents alike move in and around the town and provide more flexible car parking in Romsey. ”

The proposed changes would see an increase in the number of parking spaces in the town centre; make greater provision for short-stay parking; and give more flexibility in the length of stay options.

It would also see the council taking responsibility for enforcing parking restrictions on access only road, such as Albany Road and Knatchbull Close. Other on-street parking restrictions for various additional roads in Romsey are proposed.

Also suggested is an access restriction on vehicles over five tonnes, or a restriction on the loading and unloading of all vehicles, to areas of the town centre at specific times.

Full details of the proposals and drawings will be available to view in the council offices in the Former Magistrates’ Court from Monday to Friday, January 31. A manned exhibition will also be held at Crosfield Hall between 3pm and 8pm on Thursday, January 16, Tuesday January 21, and Wednesday, January 29.

During the consultation period, the plans can also be viewed on the council’s website, testvalley.gov.uk
