A Romsey teenager is among the lucky few chosen to train with Matthew Bourne’s dance company, New Adventures, and perform in front of thousands in a curtain-raiser to his Swan Lake at the Mayflower Theatre next Friday (March 28).

Seventeen-year-old Roseanna Liddiard, aged 17, who is studying dance, acting and photography at Totton College, said: “I’m so excited about performing in front of thousands at the Mayflower Theatre. I’ve always loved to dance and since starting my BTEC in dance at Totton College I have really improved my technique.

“It’s an amazing opportunity for me to take part in this dance project and be trained by professional dancers.”

Roseanna, a former pupil of Romsey School, is one of 29 lucky dance students from the college and Wildern School selected by the National Association for Able Children in Education (NACE) to take part in the Mayflower workshop.

The young dancers will prepare a contemporary piece inspired by Swan Lake which they will perform before the main production
