BUDDING carnival royals please step forward.

An independent panel of judges will chose Romsey Carnival Queen 2014 and her two attendants at a special selection night next Wednesday (April 16).

Those selected will go on to represent the town at carnival events including the summer and winter parades. The selection night is at Romsey Comrades Club and it starts at 7pm.

All would-be contestants must live in the SO51 postcode district and those seeking to become Queen must be aged 12-16 and the attendants between seven and 11. Whoever is chosen to become carnival queen in June will receive £100 and each attendant £50.

This year’s summer carnival events start on Tuesday, July15 with a bed race and an under 16’s go-kart race through the town’s streets and concludes with a procession on Sunday, July 20 and the winter carnival week begins on Wednesday, November 19 and finishes with a parade and the Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday, November 22. Anyone interested in becoming carnival queen or an attended can pick up and entry form on the carnival website, Kutz Hairdressers in Latimer Street, the Romsey Advertiser office in the Market Place or go along to the Comrades Club on the night.

Full details of all events will be featured in the Basepoint Romsey Carnival programmes when they are published.
