A teenager is organising a fashion show in aid of the special care baby unit which cared for her when she was born nine weeks premature.

Lauren Chamberlain, a Year 11 student at Hampshire Collegiate School near Romsey, is masterminding the catwalk fundraiser in aid of the Support for Sick Newborn and their Parents (SSNAP) at the school this Friday (October 3) at 7pm.

Last year all senior students were allowed to nominate a charity of their choice for support by the pupils and Lauren chose SSNAP, which fundraises for the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, which supports babies born in Hampshire and the Thames Valley.

“The unit provided vital support and equipment for me and my family when I was born nine weeks prematurely, weighing just 3lbs 2ozs. As I approach my 16th birthday I felt that I wanted to give something back to the charity,” said Lauren.

SSNAP was formed in 1982 by a group of parents who recognised the need for additional resources for the unit, which can care for up to 53 babies and is a centre of excellence in neonatal care.

Lauren’s show is being choreographed and styled by former catwalk model Lisa Shaw, a prent at the school,  and clothes will be modelled by HCS students.

The specially designed stage set is being provided, free of charge, by Sirius Events who have just returned from London Fashion Week.

Among ranges which will be modelled are menswear from Bradbeers, ladies wear from Foxy Lady, Bergman & Brown and Bojangles, prom dresses from Tiffany’s, and outdoor and sporting wear from Mole Country Stores and Romsey Saddlery.

Paul Light Hair and Clarins are preparing the models for the catwalk.

Businesses who have donated raffle prizes include: Sarah Barrett Hairdressing, David Lloyd Southampton, Sakks Menswear, Next , Ageas Bowl, Academy Studios and Hotel TerraVina.

Tickets for the show, priced £12.50 for adults and £6.50 children under 16, are available by emailing: info@hampshirecs.org.uk
