A ROMSEY-based charity has been stunned after thieves stripped four wheels off the back axle of its minibus.

The Youth Options vehicle’ wheels were taken in broad daylight while it was parked at Romsey FC’s ground on Monday.

The charity’s resources manager Nikki Crooks said: “One of the minibuses was found with all four rear wheels stolen and the minibus left on its axles.

“This not only affected the group of young people, who were due to be picked up and taken to an educational workshop, but will also affect many other young people, through the knock-on effects.”

She said the cost of repairs and replacement wheels would be £1,500.

Nikki added: “Itt must have taken time, effort and the right tools. We cannot believe that people would steal from young people and a youth charity, which was clearly stated on the minibus logo. We are disappointed and frustrated at the example this shows young people, when we are working tirelessly to improve the life chances of young people and prevent them from becoming involved with anti-social behaviour.”

Youth Options provides activities for young people across Hampshire and has a fleet of eight minibuses.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact Romsey police on 101 or Youth Options head office on 01794 525510.
