TONIGHT millions will watch as a Hampshire hero takes to the world-famous Strictly ballroom.

For the very first time, the glittering dancefloor will be open to six non-celebrities, including Romsey’s Heather Parsons, all in aid of Comic Relief.

The 53-year-old was nominated to take part in The People’s Strictly for her tireless work with her charity Where There’s A Will – helping those who find themselves fighting for their lives in Southampton General Hospital’s intensive care unit – following her own near-death experience.

She will take to the floor in the arms of Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Ian Waite and the pair will perform an elegant Viennese waltz.

As previously reported, the pair have been busy training in Romsey for their big moment in the BBC ballroom, which will be aired tonight.

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will present the final episode of the series and Anton Du Beke will step behind the judges’ desk, joining Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and head judge Len Goodman.

Once all six couples have danced, the voting lines will be open and the winner, voted for by the public, will be announced live on Friday night, during Comic Relief.

The money raised from the show will be spent helping to change the lives of poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the UK and across Africa.

To see Heather dance watch BBC1 at 9pm.
