THE Great British Sewing Bee fever is set to hit Southampton on Saturday, March 28, when judge May Martin will sign copies of her book in the city.

May, pictured, of Awbridge, will be signing copies of May Martin’s Sewing Bible at Fabric Land in Above Bar Street from 2pm.

“I love sewing,” said May. “And I’ve shopped at Fabric Land a lot over the years, so it seemed ideal to choose it for one of my book signings.

“I like to support local businesses and am really looking forward to the signing and meeting people who share my love of making things.”

Jeremy Berg, managing director of Fabric Land, added: “Fabric Land has traded in Southampton for 24 years and it is customers like May who have been the backbone of our business during that time.”

He added: “Programmes like The Great British Sewing Bee raised awareness of sewing once again and anyone who has an interest in sewing became a fan of it.

“It is because of the programme that once again the very useful skill of sewing has been reintroduced to many schools.”
