GO Orange and help raise cash for a cancer charity.

That’s the message from Brian Orange, who is behind a curry quiz night at his local, the Crown Inn at King’s Somborne and all the money raised will go to Myeloma UK, the only charity solely supporting multiple Myeloma bone cancer.

Pub landlords Terry Minter and Judith Evans, who run the centuries old watering hole, have agreed to devote one of their weekly curry quiz nights to raising cash for the charity and it will be on June 22 from 8.15pm onwards.

It all ties in with Myeloma Awareness Week between Sunday June 21 and June 28 and is being hosted by the Winchester Myeloma Support Group which Brian formed about two years ago.

Brian who was diagnosed with the disease in 2008 said: “Hopefully it will be a perfect evening to sit outside. Those who came last year will remember it was a lovely evening and many teams spent nearly all the evening in the Crown’s lovely garden.”

It cost £3 per person for a curry and £3 to take part in the quiz. Teams of up eight people can take part in the fundraiser.

Speaking about the disease, Brian said: “Myeloma is about one per cent of all cancers, so it is not a big one and 25 years ago they did not know how to treat it. But since then, they have made leaps and bounds on the treatments.

“Myeloma is not curable but is treatable.”
