A FAMILY festival in Hampshire will raise awareness and understanding of dementia.

The Demfest 2015 is a free one day festival that will take place at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, in Ampfield on Sunday between 10am and 5pm.

It will include live music, including singing by Romsey Ladies Choir, and educational and inspirational talks, including one on dementia research by leading international dementia expert Professor Clive Holmes and others on relaxation techniques and reminiscence therapies.

There are also demonstrations on products, along with therapies such as reflexology, massage, Indian head massage and aromatherapy.

In addition children can have a go at pond dipping in the gardens, off Jermyns Lane, and families can enjoy a display of vintage cars.

There are nearly 20,000 people estimated to be living with dementia in the county and it is estimated that this number will double by 2030.

Organisers RomDAG, a local community action group working to make Romsey dementia friendly, hope the event will raise awareness of dementia and showcase the work of those who support people in Hampshire.
