THE Basingstoke and District Saturday League gets back under way this weekend, with Hook considered favourites to land the Division One title.

The league has been reshuffled over the summer and will be made up of just two divisions in 2015-16.

The Premier Division has been disbanded, with the remaining teams going into a nine-strong Division One, with Division Two made up of 11 clubs.

Hook, who finished second in the Premier Division last year, start as favourites to win the title as champions Basingstoke Royals have switched to the Sunday section.

Steven Price, who was a key player for Royals last season, has come in to strengthen Hook.

In Peter White and Kye Theodore, Tadley Calleva A have the most exciting attack in the division and they could threaten Hook.

Overton United A and TwentyTen, who finished first and second in Division One last year, may also provide a challenge.

Basingstoke Athletic and Basingstoke Labour Club will be hoping to make an impact after being promoted from Division Two, while Sherborne St John, DJS Telecoms and Hampshire Irons also go into the season with high hopes.

Bounty United would appear to be the Division Two favourites, but Tron, who have moved across from the Sunday section, and TDI Group, formerly Welly Old Boys, could challenge them.

The other teams in the division are Winklebury Wizards, Basingstoke United, Herriard Sports, Basingstoke Athletic Reserves, AFC Aldermaston A, Hook Reserves, AFC Berg and Overton United B.
