A GIRL is being treated in hospital for facial injuries after being hit by a bus on a Hampshire road.

The collision happened on Botley Road, in North Baddesley at 3.30pm on Wednesday and emergency services, including numerous police, remained on the scene for several hours.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after the 13-year-old was hit by a bus on the pedestrian crossing at the junction with Rownhams Lane.

She suffered facial injuries and was rushed to Southampton General Hospital for treatment, where she remains.

One side of the road was closed as police launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, which is continuing today.

PC Dan Golding, who is leading the investigation, said: "There were a lot of people around at the time of the incident so we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened."
