WRITER Mat Guy is signing copies of his book, packed with heartfelt football tales, at a place he calls home - the Ray Mac.

Another Bloody Saturday: A Journey to the Heart and Soul of Football is about Guy's attempt to come to terms with Salisbury City's demise two years ago.

By travelling far and wide in search of what had made Whites so special to him and his grandfather, Guy hoped to find that ‘Victoria Park feeling’ once more, and reconnect with happier times.

He explains: "The book takes in what I believe to be the true soul of football in the non-league and lower league football near and far – a soul I found at Victoria Park and later at the Ray Mac.

"In trying to find it elsewhere only served to highlight just how much losing Salisbury meant to me back in those dark days.

"It also helped to reveal that the true heartbeat of football: the volunteers and devoted supporters that keep clubs vibrant far from the big money of the Premier League, is alive and well, and needs to be cherished and protected.

"Now that Salisbury has been revived by a band of equally dedicated souls it feels right that the book should ‘come home’ – and what better opportunity than the release of its second edition."

He will be selling and signing copies of his book after Salisbury's league clash with high-fliers Shortwood United on Saturday.

The book costs £9 and for every sale Guy makes, he will donate £1 to the supporters' club.

Guy added: "If you love your football with true soul, then this book is for you."
