An airline has given its support to hospices in the Winchester district.

A team of cabin crew and managers from Ryanair visited Naomi House & Jacksplace hospices to present a donation of €10,000.

Ryanair have supported the charity through the sale of Scratch Cards on flights across Europe.

Naomi House & Jacksplace offer respite, emergency, end of life and bereavement care to life-limited and life-threatened children, young people and families from across Hampshire.

As well as hearing from the Naomi House & Jacksplace care team, the party met with Ryan Eyre, a young man that receives respite care at the hospices.

Ryan, 21, has Myotonic Dystrophy and lives with his parents and sister in Hedge End.

Chief executive at Naomi House & Jacksplace Mark Smith said: “It was a real pleasure to meet so many of the Ryanair staff and thank them personally for their fabulous efforts in selling scratch cards and raising the profile of Naomi House & Jacksplace amongst their passengers. Our charity is caring for more families than ever before, and the children and young people that are coming to us have increasingly complex medical needs.

"It is thanks to the generosity of firms like Ryanair that we are able to meet this increasing demand and provide a first class service for families on good days, difficult days and last days."
