BOILING Point has announced it is set to take Hide, an original production, to this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

London, 1884. Dr Jekyll has disappeared but the Government has continued his work… In a world of clockwork and conformity, six extraordinary women must rise up against a ruthless, controlling society and each take control of their destinies.

Hide is directed by The Point’s drama development manager Daniel Hill and is written by frequent collaborator and local playwright Matt Beames.

Boiling Point is formed of senior members of The Point Youth Theatre who have come together especially for the production of Hide and the show’s run at the coveted Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The company will present Hide at The Space on the Mile August 4-25following its preview at The Point tomorrow, Friday July 28.

The Edinburgh Fringe is a prestigious arts event and a great platform for companies to showcase their original productions. Boiling Point will perform Hide 14 times over a four-week period, welcoming audience members that have travelled from around the world to attend the event.

The Point Youth Theatre has experience of performing at Edinburgh having taken Error 404 to the festival in 2014.

Returning as Boiling Point, the cast and Creative Team will be one of many artists supported by the Eastleigh arts venue to have performed at the Fringe. This summer, Associate Artists Theatre Re will present The Nature of Forgetting at the festival following a performance at this year’s Latitude.

Hide will preview in the intimate setting of The Point’s Studio Theatre on Friday July 28, tickets are available at www.thepointeastleigh.co.uk.

Boiling Point

Boiling Point is a unique company made up of senior members of The Point Youth Theatre. The company has been formed especially for Hide; taking the ethos of ensemble theatre and driving it through all their work, the company have developed a strong bond which has become a key element of their devising process. The six members have more than 20 years devising, performing and directing experience between them. PYT takes pride in enabling young performers to work side by side with professional theatre makers in an honest and transparent environment; this ethos is the key to Boiling Point’s creative process.

The Point Youth Theatre is open to all young people aged 8 – 21 giving every young person the opportunity to take part in safe, empowering and challenging theatre regardless of age, background or ability. We operate an ensemble approach to everything we do, putting young people in the driving seat, creating equality and camaraderie within the youth theatre.
