PUPILS at a Hampshire school have had an insight into studying abroad, with the inaugural visit of ‘The International Universities Roadshow’.

Nineteen leading universities from across Europe, Canada and the USA attended the event at Hampshire Collegiate School, enabling Year 11 and Sixth Form pupils and their parents to meet representatives from the universities, discuss study options and talk about the advantages that can be gained from studying overseas.

The University of Toronto (rated Canada’s number one University), the KIT Carl Benz School of Engineering (Germany), the Grenoble School of Business (France), and the Polimoda International Institute of Fashion, Design and Marketing (Italy), were amongst the exhibitors.

Students from Hampshire Collegiate School found the event extremely beneficial,

One student said: “It’s given me a totally new perspective on the different higher education courses that are available overseas – some courses that I hadn’t even thought of before now.”

Another added: “I found the event really interesting and informative. It’s given me a good comparison to the courses that are available in the UK.”

After the event, Deputy Head of Sixth Form Mrs Cumpstey added: “The students really benefited from attending the fair, with many showing an interest not only in studying for a degree overseas but also considering a summer programme.

The universities said that they had really enjoyed coming to Hampshire Collegiate School and commented how articulate and well prepared the students were.”

The international universities roadshow was held as part of a dedicated programme of events held throughout the year for Hampshire Collegiate School’s Senior School pupils and Sixth Form students.

These events aim to equip students with the understanding and skills they need to make informed decisions about university and their future careers.
