ROMSEY men's shed group has announced a launch event for next spring to unveil its new home in the town.

The group, which is currently based on the site of Romsey School, is to open up its new shed their in March of next year.

Men's Shed is a group which men join to socialise and embark on a host of activities around the community.

The Romsey group, a registered charity, has around 30 members who meet weekly.

Now, after receiving help from both Romsey School and Test Valley Borough Council, have announced that their new shed will be opening on March 28th for an official launch.

Malcolm Kaill, a member of the group, said: "After retiring, I heard about Romsey Men's Shed and wanted to help get it up and running.

"It's a great way to get involved in practical projects that benefit the community and have fun working with other retired men."

Malcolm said that the members were hoping to build on generous grants from the borough council and the National Lottery, as well as other organisations including Waitrose and Romsey Rotary Club.

The launch of the shed, which is already on site at the school, will take place from 11am.
