A HAMPSHIRE grandfather who covered his house in Christmas lights in memory of his great granddaughter who passed away has raised more than £1,000 for charity.

Ten-month-old Alesha Vincent spent her final months in the care at Naomi House and Jacksplace, and passed away due to heart failure.

As previously reported, Mike Wood, 70, Alesha's great grandfather, placed buckets to collect money for the charity outside his house which was covered in a tribute to Alesha.

Alesha's mum Beckie, has thanked everyone who donated after they managed to raise £1,020 in collections.

Beckie said: "We would like to say a big thank you to everyone that donated so generously to the Naomi House collection in memory of our beautiful little girl Alesha.

"We really do appreciate everyone's donations. We were amazed to have raised the total which will now help Naomi House to help other families and their children like they helped us.

"We are so grateful to Naomi House for the work they do and will always be thankful for helping us to make the last memories that we did with our baby girl.

"She will never be forgotten and her memory will always be kept alive."
