Fire crews investigating the blaze that broke out at the Potters Heron Hotel are not treating it as suspicious.
Around 170 emergency service personnel attended the fire at the building in Ampfield on Monday night.
Much of the roof was destroyed, but firefighters managed to save the building.
Borough commander of Winchester and Test Valley, Dan Tasker, said: "We are not 100 per cent sure what caused the fire.
"They are still looking, still doing their thing inside trying to find out.
"We're not treating the fire as suspicious at the moment."
