MORE names have signed up to the next Romsey Festival as plans begin to take shape.

National Trust at Mottisfont and Sir Harold Hillier Gardens are two of the new places to join the Festival, which takes place in 2020.

Held every three years, it brings music and art exhibitions to the streets of the market town.

Mottisfont has backed the Festival and signed up with afternoon recitals and a concert at the grounds following its participation in the last event.

Romsey Town Centre Manager Mark Edgerley, who is part of the Festival team, said: "The Sir Harold Hillier Gardens have signed up to put on some family festival high jinks, with all its space and car parking, the gardens are a wonderful location for family centred activities during the Festival.

"We heard from some 20 participants that are planning their contribution, some great music events at Romsey Abbey, once again the gardens of central Romsey will be open to the public, and the church bells will be run in the villages with invitations to meet the bell ringers and try the hand bells."

Romsey Beggars Fair is also signed up to the middle weekend of the Festival, with a variety of music and dancing across the town, as well as the popular yarn bombing of the town.

Following the guided walks at last summer's festival, other guided events will take place that take in Romsey's heritage from blue plaques to pavement poetry.

There will also be a children's trail around the town for youngsters attending the festival.

The Festival begins in July 2020 and runs until Sunday July 19.

It will feature classical concerts, jazz, folk, dance and other exhibitions among other activities.
