THE service of a Romsey Rotarian who drowned on a Caribbean beach is to be held next month.

John Twentyman, who spent much of his working life in the market town, will be remembered by his friends and family at Romsey Abbey on May 18.

As previously reported, John drowned off a beach in Anguilla, where him and his wife Jane spent many winters together from their Lymington home.

Police on the island launched an investigation into the former auctioneer's death, and an inquest heard that he drowned after being located at around 4.35pm on February 24.

Tributes had been paid when a ceremony on the island was held, but a service at Romsey Abbey will start next month at 2pm.

The family have asked that all donations go to the Oakhaven Hospice in Lymington and the Tender Loving Home for the elderly, Anguilla to be sent to A H Cheaters in Romsey.
