EASTLEIGH’S James Constable has revealed he would “love to stay” at Poole Town.

The Spitfires frontman joined the Dolphins on loan in February and has been described as a “revelation” by Tom Killick, boss of the National League South relegation battlers

And while the 33-year-old still has another year on his Spitfires’ contract, he stressed his desire to play regular football.

Asked whetehr Poole would be an option for him, he said: “Yes, I would love to stay and, hopefully, Poole can stay up this season.

“I have had a few conversations with Eastleigh. For me personally, I want to be out playing fooball. I’m 34 in October and sitting on the bench is not something I am considering.”

Poole currently occupy the third promotion spot, a point adrift of safety and their destiny is out of their own hands heading into tomorrow’s last game of the season at home to Oxford City. They must win and hope that Hungerford slip up at East Thurrock.

Eastleigh, a disappointing 17th in the National League on 53 points, cannot now beat their 57-point tally of last season.

They bow out away from home tomorrow against a Solihull Moors side

Solihull Moors guaranteed their place in the National League for next season after beating second-placed Tranmere 2-1 at Prenton Park.

Win, lose or draw at Bideford tomorrow, Winchester City will finish 11th in the Evo-Stik South West.
