GREEN-fingered gardeners of King's Somborne will be displaying the fruits and flowers of their labour this summer when the village has its Open Gardens day.

On June 17, seven gardens will be open to the wider community and the event will be complemented by an art exhibition in the village hall.

Open Church will also be running on the same day, as well as needlework and an exhibition by the village primary school.

When the last King's Somborne Gardens was last held three years ago, more than 500 visitors toured he gardens.

Although most of the activity will be focused on the central area of the village, a minibus service will be provided to ensure access to those gardens a little further away, including the landscaped grounds of Ashley Manor. Tea refreshments will also be available in at least two of the gardens.

The day itself will extend from 1pm until 5.30pm on June 17.

All proceeds will go to Cancer Research UK, St Peter and St Paul's Church and Village Hall development funds.

Tickets and maps will be priced at £7.50 each and will be available on the day from the Village Hall.
