ALMOST £800 has been given to a parish council to put on exercise classes for the older generations within a community.
King's Somborne Parish Council has received the councillor community grant worth £780 from Test Valley Borough Council.
The grant will fund the provision of Steady and Strong, an exercise class at Epworth Hall, which will be delivered by a qualified instructor trained to help reduce falls in older people.
Ward councillor Tony Ward, who presented the cheque, said: "These courses will be a great help to any of our residents who want to improve their balance, flexibility and confidence, especially following a fall. Being active also helps them to maintain their independence while making new friends."
The grant subsidises the cost for those attending the sessions by covering the first six months of the Epworth Hall hire, and the trainer's expenses.
Sue Jackson, village agent for the King's Somborne area, added: "I am delighted to receive the grant, which will make the classes accessible to all.
"Don't sit at home, come and join in, improve your fitness and keep yourself stronger for longer, and enjoy exercise in the company of others."
