SIR – I was amused by the article "Who doesn't have a Bank Holiday BBQ"

At this time of year, men who wouldn't dream of going into a kitchen suddenly discover their inner caveman and decide to cremate meat on an open fire and drink large quantities of beer.

The tradition comes from our descendants in Australia where almost every garden is at least three quarters of an acre. However, most gardens in Romsey are a lot smaller than that and in close proximity to their neighbours.

Whilst I would like to enjoy a glass of wine and the sweet smell of Jasmin and Roses in my garden, they are blasted out by smoke and badly-cooked food.
