MORE than 200 nominations have been made for businesses across Test Valley in a record breaking year for the borough’s annual awards ceremony.

The Test Valley Business Awards, now in its 14th year, has recorded the highest number of nominations in its history.

Run by volunteers, the awards seeks to shine a light on new businesses, those working best in the community, and employer of the year in a total of six categories.

Reaching more than 200 entries across the categories, this year’s awards is the most popular, exceeding last year’s previous best ever number.

The nominations opened in March in Stockbridge, and closed on May 11.

Sophie Porter, of the Test Valley Business Awards Steering Committee, said the entries were of “such a high quality”.

She said: “We’re delighted to have received so many entries this year, and of such a high quality.

“Thank you to everyone who nominated a business, entered their own business, and encourages others to do so!”

Between May 25 and July 2, the sponsors of each award, which include Test Valley Borough Council and The University of Southampton Science Park, will judge the entries in their particular category to pick the finalists.
