A TERRIFIED mum is urging people to be vigilant after terrifying knife ordeal in a dark alleyway.

Hannah Siddall has been left too scared to go out at night following her encounter with the male in a pathway between Falkland Road and Essex Green, Chandler’s Ford.

The 27-year-old, who works in a local pub, was walking home from a nightshift at around 10.30pm when she saw the man.

She described him as wearing baggy shorts, a black hoody and type of balaclava which revealed only the man’s eyes.

“It was like something out of a horror movie,” Ms Siddall said.

“I was on the phone to my other half and as I walked down towards the steps there was this man who was just staring at me.

“All I could see was his eyes and I just started screaming.

“He shouted at me that he had a knife and then ran off away from me. I was hysterical at this point.”

Ms Siddall, who has lived in Chandler’s Ford for around six years and has an 11-month-old baby, ran into the middle of the road and a car driving by stopped to see if she was ok.

Police arrived later and comforted her.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “We were called at 10.53pm on Thursday August, 2 to a report of a suspicious man on Falkland Road, Chandlers Ford.

“The man then claimed he had a knife, before running off. The woman was left very shocked.

“The man did not approach the woman and no knife was seen.”

Following her ordeal, Ms Siddall now wants to warn others.

She added: “I know it sounds cheesy but I thought this is it - that’s it for me. I kept looking around and thinking there was someone there.

“I can’t deal with the dark now and all I remember is just seeing his face. People need to be careful walking around there late at night and hopefully people will be aware of the situation now.”
