SIR – With reference to the closure of two local Red Cross branches, I wish to express my great regret, as a volunteer of Mobility Aid, about the sad fact that we are not able to continue our service to the local community. I believe that most (if not all!) Mobility Aid volunteers affected feel the same. Our service users need practical help at a time when they are having to cope with illness or disability and in the future we shall not be able to provide such help when and where it is easy for them to reach us.
At North Baddesley the service, which operated from the local Health Centre, discontinued and the Romsey Centre will close by the end of the year.
How unfortunate that such a well respected charity as the British Red Cross felt it necessary to take such drastic steps!
A disenchanted volunteer.
